One day workshop on Environmental Informatics


School of Ecological informatics at IIITM-K conducted a One day workshop on Environmental Informatics on 2nd February 2012.The event dealt with the sessions such as Integrating Science,Technology and Society:Environmental Informatics -Glimpses of what we do and why, Capabilities of MATLAB-An over view, Indroduction to Quantitative Plat form, Trends in Scientific Collaborations,Discussions regarding Collective research possibilities,Thoughts for ICPCC.17 participants from different colleges of Kerala atteneded the workshop.

25 years of establishment of the Inter-governmental Panel on climate Change(IPCC),the academicians from 18 colleges agreed to initiate an Intercollegiate Panel on Climate Change( ICPCC).It is a blend of IPCC and Intergovernmental  Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services(IPBES).ICPCC scientific panel will review and assesses the scientific ,technical and socio-economic information produced within and relevant to Kerala.The panel provides tremendous opportunity for inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional collaborations and is expected to deliver scientific recommenendations for public administration.The founding members invite all academicians irrespective of their professional backgrounds and disciplines to be members of ICPCC.

    On 10 February 2012, we had agreed to team up as a group to monitor climate change driven alterations in plant phenological responses. The typical case of flowering in Cassia fistula was identified.
    All you will need to do for the present is to make a note of daily weather parameters (as much available) for your region and keep eyes open to identify the date of flowering of Cassia fistula in 2013.   2. Today seems to be a bright sunny day. was really surprised to see a Cassia fistula is now in its flowering time though this is December, a tree near Pangappara Gurumandiram.
